You’re driving through Brown County, and suddenly the only thing louder than your stomach is the smoke rolling off a backyard rig. Nashville’s BBQ doesn’t mess around with white tablecloths; it’s about sweet tea stains and napkin towers.

You’ll find everything from a tender pulled pork that dissolves before you can grab a fork to an Italian sausage sandwich that requires a full hazmat suit of napkins. I’ve eaten at both extremes, and my shirt is a permanent souvenir.

Skip the chain exits. Here’s where to point your car.

Worth the drive to Nashville

I drove past Sugar Creek on a whim. Best decision I made all week. The pulled pork was so tender it practically dissolved before I could chew. And the atmosphere? Warm in that way that makes you want to stay for another sweet tea. Staff treated me like a regular, even though I was clearly a stranger. Now, is it worth the drive out of Nashville? Absolutely. I'd cross state lines for this place. Just don't tell my cardiologist.

Relaxed, no-frills atmosphere
Friendly service and outdoor seating

Trolly's looks like someone's garage sale vomited picnic tables. And I mean that as a compliment. The Italian sausage sandwich hit me like a truck—peppers and onions piled high, messy, glorious. The outdoor smoker adds a smoky haze that makes everything taste better. Service was friendly, no frills, exactly what you want. It's not fancy. It's not clean. It's perfect. I'm already planning my next trip back. Bring napkins. Bring a bib. Bring an open mind.
